The new Miro Junction Box (JBox) offers true flexibility and modularity in building multi-camera configurations as simple or complex as needed. Designed to work with all Miro cameras, the JBox is a rugged and sensible connection hub that maximizes camera capability in the most difficult of situations.

The JBox is Hi-G – It’s been tested to withstand shocks to 170G IAW MIL-STD 202G, and vibration of 17 grms IAW MIL-STD 202G. This makes it a perfect companion to the Miro C210J for tough applications like on-board crash testing.

The JBox can be used in several ways, to match the specific application:

  1. Custom wire the system cable directly into an umbilical cord for direct signal control
  2. Connect the JBox to other JBoxes in a daisy chain or tree branch configuration
  3. Connect directly to a local laptop via Ethernet using the ruggedized RJ45 Ethernet connector
  4. Connect the system cable to a custom Control Breakout Box, to cleanly and easily connect to customer signaling and Ethernet

The system cables, Ruggedized Ethernet cable, Sorenson Programmable power supply and 280W Power supply are available through the Vision Research on-line Store.

Features of the Miro Junction Box

6 Camera Ports: The Miro JBox has 6 ports, each of which can connect to a Phantom Miro camera or to another Miro JBox System Port to create a daisy-chain or tree branch configuration.  Each port carries Ethernet, power, serial, and Miro Camera signals, so only one cable is needed to connect to the cameras.  Additionally, each port has 2 status LEDs – one for Ethernet and one for camera status – for easy set-up and use. The ports use rugged Fischer connectors to accept Miro System cables.

System Port: The System Port provides Ethernet, serial, and Miro Camera signals to the Junction Box to be distributed to the cameras or other Junction Boxes.  It has the same pin-outs and fischer connector as the Camera ports and also accepts the Miro System Cable – meaning fewer cable types for easier inventory management.

Power: The Junction Box operates at 20 – 32VDC, and is protected for reverse polarity, overcurrent (10A), undervoltage and overvoltage to 50V. Power is provided through a single power port with a rugged Amphenol connector. If multiple JBoxes are connected, each JBox must be powered. Customers may supply their own power, connect the JBox to a programmable power supply, or connect it to a 280W power supply. Each camera port accepts up to 2A.

Ready BNC: “Ready” pertains to all cameras connected to the JBox.  If multiple JBoxes are connected, global Ready is on the originating (Master) JBox.

Trigger BNC: The Trigger BNC provides simple access for Trigger, which is also provided through the System connector.  The LED status light is green if the BNC trigger is asserted, blue if the System trigger is asserted.

Aux BNC: The Aux BNC provides Selectable strobe or FSYNC for synchronization with equipment such as pulsed LED lighting.

Ethernet: The Ruggedized RJ45 Ethernet connector provides direct access to a local laptop via Ethernet, which is also provided through the System connector.

Dimensions:  187mm x 187mm x 53mm (including handle) (7.3” x 7.3” x 2”) (W x L x H)
